Ok, so we're just being cute here and making fun of FFXIII, which is one of our favorite pastimes, but seriously, the idea of implementing story patches in an RPG game is complete garbage. It's already quite scummy when the biggest publishers release unplayable shit with the hopes of fixing it all with a day-one patch, but story patches take things to a new level. Changing a story in an RPG isn't like fixing a technical error or glitch - it's a part of the fundamental game design. When viewed in conjunction with the growing practice of people buying games sight-unseen with modern pre-order culture, the incentives to developers are becoming increasingly perverse.
