USB-V

Artist's Note:

Yep. Gonna miss using ALL of my fancy headphones.

Writer's Note:

So...lightning port = butt?

Anyway, this comic is definitely more vulgar than our normal (twisted) standard, but the analogy was just too good to pass up.

If you couldn't already tell, I think Apple is being really silly. They said in their presentation that they chose to remove the headphone jack to save space, but that headphone adapter dongle will take up more room, and be far more annoying, than the immediate design benefits. I understand that they want to push wireless audio, and I myself own and use multiple wireless headsets, but there's still many cases where wired headsets are either superior, and in any case not everyone can afford to buy new headphones, especially right after purchasing a new (and very expensive) phone. I really would have preferred that Apple kept the headphone jack in this generation's phone while releasing the Airpods and lightning-earbuds, before ultimately removing the jack in the iPhone 8. It would've been a much smoother transition for us consumers, but I guess that this is more or less in line with Apple's policy of relentless and unforgiving hardware upgrades.
